The ML 1200RP is Meclift丩s response to the delicate handling of large size paper reels. The first truck was delivered to UPM Kaukas paper mill in Finland.
The telescopic twin boom configuration is integrated to a multiple arm with a rotating clamp. The clamp is attached to a beam between the two arms by means of a hydraulically operated pivot arm, enabling tilt movements. The machine is capable of lifting an 8 tonne-load to a clamp centre height of 5 metres, and has an outreach of 1.85 m. The key to the design is the open front end, which allows the booms to be retracted when carrying a reel in a vertical position between the front wheels. This reduces the wheel loadings significantly with a full load. This feature makes it possible to handle reels as heavy as 8 tonnes inside a rail wagon.
The tricycle wheel design with hydrostatic drive gives exceptional manoeuvrability and ability to work in narrow aisles less than 5 m in width.
