The greatest benefit comes from the fact that the I-flex requires no oil or grease that can contaminate the brake friction pads. We have found the source of this contamination is mainly due to the use of gear couplings.
The D-type coupling offers easy alignment, precise outer diameter machining means you only have to turn one of the un-tightened flanges. The brake disc can be replaced through the coupling. Unlike gear couplings that have to be dissembled for inspection the I-flex is easily inspected visually and is failsafe. The high tensile steel coupling bolts will not fail in an emergency stop situation.
